What is a boudoir session really like?

Here’s a step-by-step look at what a boudoir experience with me here at LD Photography is really like.
Before Your Boudoir Session
Your boudoir experience begins long before you step into the studio. You’ll receive a series of emails with everything you need to feel prepared — including tips on how to get ready, a clear timeline of the day, and styling suggestions to help you choose outfits you’ll love. I can even send you Pinterest inspiration boards and an Amazon list full of lingerie options that are flattering to everyone.
You’ll also receive a pre-session questionnaire. This allows me to get to know you, your personality, and your goals for your boudoir photoshoot, so I can tailor the experience to highlight your unique beauty and style.
The Day of the Shoot
On the day of your boudoir photography session, you’ll arrive to my Annapolis boudoir studio and start with professional hair and makeup — the perfect way to relax, feel pampered, and set the tone for the day. While you’re getting glammed up, we will chat about your outfit options, listen to music and have some bubbly.
From there, we’ll move into your photo session, which typically lasts 1.5–2 hours. You’ll rotate through three sets and outfit changes, with the option to add more time and sets if you’d like an even bigger variety of portraits. Between singing along to my personally curated playlist and laughing at ourselves, I’ll guide you through every pose with clear, supportive coaching.
Most clients start out feeling a little nervous, but once I show you the back of the camera and you see just how incredible you look, everything changes. Suddenly it clicks — you’ll feel empowered, confident, and ready to shine. Expect plenty of laughter, encouragement, and those magical “wow, that’s me?!” moments.
After the Boudoir Photoshoot
About two weeks after your session, we’ll meet for a private viewing and ordering appointment. These take place in my Annapolis studio, or can be done via Zoom if prefer to view your images in the comfort of your home. You’ll see your images in a beautiful slideshow, then select your favorites. From there, you can choose products that fit your vision — whether that’s a luxury album, wall art, or digital images. This is where your boudoir portraits truly come to life, giving you something you can cherish forever.
