How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Photoshoot:

The Ultimate Guide to Feeling Confident & Camera-Ready

If you’ve booked your boudoir session (or you’re thinking about it), first of all—I’m so excited for you.

This experience is about so much more than photos. It’s about confidence, self-celebration, and seeing yourself in a way you never have before.

And the best part? You don’t need to know how to pose, what to do, or even feel confident walking in.

That’s my job.

What you can do is show up prepared—and this guide will walk you through exactly how to do that.

1. Start Planning Your Outfits Early

Outfits are one of the biggest confidence boosters during your session.

The goal isn’t to “look like someone else”—it’s to feel like the most elevated version of you.

A few go-to favorites:

  • Lace bodysuits
  • Matching bra + panty sets
  • Oversized off-the-shoulder sweaters or button-downs
  • Robes or something sentimental
  • Nothing at all (yes, really)

Pro tips:

Bring 3–4 options for variety

Stick with pieces that fit well (not too tight or digging in)

Neutrals, black, and jewel tones photograph beautifully

Don't forget accessories!  Jewelry, heels, boots, hats, fun sunglasses etc. can add that extra special touch to your photos.

2. Don’t Stress About Hair & Makeup

Professional hair and makeup are there for a reason—to take the pressure off you.  This is your day to be pampered and feel like a supermodel for the day.

You’ll be fully camera-ready, and everything is styled specifically for how it photographs (which is different than everyday makeup).

Before your session:

  • Arrive with clean, dry hair
  • Come with a clean face
  • Avoid trying new skincare products right before

3. Don't forget the details.

Boudoir is all about the details. A little prep goes a long way in making your images feel polished.

A few things to do 1–3 days before:

  • Neutral or classic nail color (hands + feet)
  • Light grooming (brows, shaving, etc.)
  • Moisturize your skin daily

  • Avoid anything that could irritate your skin right before your shoot (new waxing, treatments, sun exposure, etc)

4. Take Care of Your Body (No Crash Diets Required)

Let’s be clear:

You do not need to change your body for your session.

Hydration, rest, and feeling good in your body will do far more for your photos than anything extreme.

Leading up to your session:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Avoid alcohol the night before
  • Glowing, hydrated skin = everything.

5. Mindset Is Everything

Almost every client tells me the same thing before their shoot: “I’m so nervous.”

And every single one says after: “That was SO much fun.”

You don’t need to know how to pose.

You don’t need to “be confident” before you arrive.

That’s what this experience is for. I will guide you through everything—from head to toe, expression to movement—so you never feel awkward or unsure.  All you have to do is show up ready to have fun.

6. What to Bring to Your Session

To make your day smooth and stress-free, bring:

  • Your outfits (3–4 options)
  • Nude + black underwear basics
  • Any accessories (heels, jewelry, robes)
  • A touch-up lip product

And most importantly—bring an open mind.

7. Trust the Process

This is where the magic happens.

From the moment you walk in, you’re taken care of—from glam to posing to your final images.

You don’t have to perform.

You don’t have to “get it right.”

Just show up.

I’ve got you.
